No, this is not about Tennis. Beware of sports! This is the story of the unknown Venetian, who was washing his ties every single sunday morning. In the afternoon he was watching how they slowly dried in front of his window. He loved to watch them dancing in the wind and how they were changing color from dark to lighter by absorbing water. And he wondered where the word cravats is coming from. It all happened 1663 during a military parade in honor of King Louis XIV in front of the castle of Versailles. All the soldiers of an invited croatian cavalry regiment were wearing a red piece of fabric burled into a long ribbon around their neck. King Louis adopted this part of the croatian uniform, called it Cravate (after Croatia) and was spreading the new fashion item within the aristocracy. He even employed a Cravatier to take care of them. The unknown Venetian was satisfied with the proof of origin, and from this day on he called himself Cravatier.
